Tizen-powered Samsung Z1 sells 50,000 units

amsung premiered its first Tizen-based smartphone - the Samsung Z1 in India 10 days ago and has in that time span managed to sell 50 thousand unit of it.
That's an impressive number for the maker, especially for a first-time device. This could easily be scratched off to the very low price of 5,700 INR (around $92/€82).
Samsung is also manufacturing the Z1 in India and offers some bonus content if you go for the device like 70 live channels, 230,000 songs for on the go enjoyment. The Samsung Z1 offers dual-SIM connectivity as well.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 officially updated with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage

he Xiaomi Redmi 2 was one of the first phones to launch this year, a successor to the popular and highly affordable Redmi 1S. The upgrades weren’t huge, the new chipset was easily the most noticeable change. That left the phone with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, which is considered low these days (not necessarily for a CNY 700 / $110 phone, but still).
Yesterday, TENAA certified an updated version of the Redmi 2 and Xiaomi's CEO confirmed on Weibo that it's the real deal – a new version of the phone with double the RAM and storage, 2GB and 16GB respectively.

nokia lumia 835

Nokia Lumia 835 popped up today on the Microsoft's official Lumia webpage. It's AT&T exclusive, has similar specs to Lumia 830 and of you click on the link - it takes you to AT&T's Lumia 830 store page.
The Lumia 835 looks a lot like a typo - if it was a new upcoming Lumia it wouldn't be Nokia branded, it looks like the Lumia 830, comes with similar hardware and even the link suggests for Lumia 830. Oh, and there is another typo in the description text - O1S instead of OIS.

HTC Desire 826 will go on sale on 29-01-2015

At CES early this year HTC unveiled a successor to the Desire 820. The new phone – HTC Desire 826 – will go on sale in China this Thursday (January 29) at CNY 2,300 ($370/€325) for the 16GB version and CNY 2,500 ($400/€350) for the 32GB one.
The phone will launch simultaneously on HTC's web store, JD.com, Suning Tesco and Lynx. Note that some stores will carry only one of the two versions. Note that the older Desire 820 is CNY 2,000.

Samsung Z1 gets two software updates

amsung has undoubtedly been investing a lot of effort in its own Tizen platform. The Samsung Z1 entry-level smartphone is truly vital in this respect as it is currently the sole ambassador of the new OS in the mobile world and as such needs to make a good first impression.
Naturally all the time and attention add up and the Samsung Z1 has received not one, but two OTAs in the past week. Neither of them had a proper change log so it is still pretty much a mystery whether they are performance updates and minor bug fixes or the Korean tech giant had some serious problems lurking somewhere in the Tizen code.

Facebook, Instagram and Tinder outage

Facebook has admitted its own tinkering caused an hour-long outage today, breaking the social network and related services including Instagram and Tinder.

The social network, which has 1.3 billion members worldwide, was unavailable for about an hour between 6.10 a.m. and 7.10 a.m. GMT. The problem then rippled around other websites and apps that use your Facebook credentials to log you in. Mobile-focused photo-sharing site Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, was affected, as were chat app AIM and swipe-based dating app Tinder.Facebook says the outage "occurred after we introduced a change that affected our configuration systems."

Facebook categorically states that "This was not the result of a third party attack", in response to speculation that the service had been hacked. Notorious hacker group Lizard Squad, which has claimed to be involved in the Sony Pictures hack and attacks on PlayStation and Xbox services, earlier tweeted about today's outage.

Samsung new portable hardisk

he Samsung Portable SSD T1 is a one-of-kind portable drive. It's a bit larger than a thumbdrive, as easy to use, yet has up to 1TB of storage space and, most importantly, delivers unmatched performance.

What's more, unlike other compact storage devices, the T1 supports data encryption. It also works with both Windows and Mac computers, after a brief setup process.

All that makes it an excellent portable storage device that has enough to justify its current hefty cost of $179 (£120, AU$220), $299 (£200, AU$365), and $599 (£395, AU$735) for 250GB, 500GB and 1TB, respectively. (Those UK and Australian prices are rough conversions; Samsung says the T1 starts at £155 in the UK, with Australian prices yet to be announced.) If you can stomach the price, I recommend it without any reservation.

WINDOWS 10 HANDS ON BY CNET SHOWS THE MOST BEST FEATURES OF WINDOWS 10

SAMSUNG NEW SUPER PHONE COMING SOON

March to April is the mostly likely option -- possibly at Mobile World Congress, or maybe at a totally separate Samsung-only event. Both have precedents: The Samsung Galaxy S5 was unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2014 in February; its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4 got its own splashy (and unintentionally controversial) launch event at Radio City Music Hall weeks after MWC in March 2013. Both phones went on sale a few weeks later.

CPU: Expect top-of-the-line guts for the GS6. Whether that's a Snapdragon 810 quad-core processor from Qualcomm (as found in the upcoming LG G Flex 2) or Samsung's own Exynos 7420 is anyone's guess. The company could also have different CPUs in different territories -- something it's done with past flagship phones.

Screen: The well-regarded Samsung Galaxy Note 4 packs an attractive AMOLED display, and it stands to reason that the Galaxy S6 would follow suit. Rumors suggest that the screen size will be around 5.5 inches.

OS:Android 5.0 Lollipop will be the star of the show, coupled with Samsung's TouchWiz Android skin. But there's a curious wrinkle here: some rumors claim that Samsung is hoping to dial down TouchWiz on the new device, with the aim of improving performance.

Plastic or metal?: This is anyone's guess, though devices like the all-metal Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3, as well as the Galaxy A7, suggest that Samsung might be looking to spruce up its image with premium metal designs.

Camera and more: We can likely expect a beefy front-shooter, too. Like it or not, smartphones at CES 2015 were all about the selfie, so there's a good chance Samsung will pay close attention to the oft-ignored front-facing camera. The Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 both sported excellent cameras, though the former lacked optical image stabilization. That's becoming increasingly prevalent on kitted-out smartphones -- see the iPhone 6 Plus -- so it stands to reason Samsung would bake it into their latest phone's rear camera.

type c usb is here .reversible usb

LAS VEGAS -- At CES 2015, folks at USB Implementers Forum and Intel showcased a quick, yet impressive, demo of what USB 3.1 Type-C is capable of.

If you haven't heard of USB Type-C, I laid out its details here. To quickly recap, apart from the fact that with Type-C there's no need to worry about which side of the cable to plug in (it works either side up), it also packs the USB 3.1 standard, which comes with a top speed of 10Gbps, twice the current speed of USB 3.0.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvjrT4aSCfc

Seagate slim hard drive

The Seagate Seven is by far the thinnest external hard drive on the market, and chances are good you'd want it for the cool design alone.

Supporting USB 3.0, the drive also delivers fast performance, and it includes helpful backup software for both Windows and Mac. It's also rugged and quite eye-catching.

There's a catch, though. The drive has only 500GB of storage space and carries a price tag of $100. (Pricing for the UK and Australia is not yet available, but the US tab converts to around £65 and AU$125.) That's very expensive considering you can now buy a 2TB portable drive for the same price.
The Seagate Seven looks like no other external drive I've seen. In fact, it looks a lot like an internal hard drive.

The name Seven was chosen to show off the drive's thickness, which is just 7mm, the same as that of a thin standard internal laptop drive. To put this in perspective, most standard (2.5-inch) internal laptop hard drives are actually 9.5mm thick. To achieve this new profile, the Seven hosts an internal drive that measures just 5mm.

The Seven's chassis is made out of hardened aluminum. Apart from making the external drive look similar to an internal one, the chassis also protects the drive inside from shocks and especially crush damage. Seagate says the Seven can survive drops of up to TK, and even being run over by a small car. The drive does feel very rugged and despite being super thin, it's impossible to bend it.

lumia coming with windows 10 os .

Typing 'Lumia 532' into Bing or Google yields Microsoft's own product details page for the recently announced Lumia. However, the mini description, which usually pulls data from the source page, reveals this interesting line: "Windows 10 ready, the Lumia 532 smartphone is capable of running mobile games with its Snapdragon processor. Skype, OneDrive, Office and more."

windows 10 coming tomorrow

win10reveal.jpg
Tomorrow, January 21, is Microsoft's second "big reveal" event for its coming Windows 10 operating system. (The first was in late September, when the company offered an overview of its Windows 10 strategy and technical preview plans.)But tomorrow will not be the day Microsoft releases the first preview of the mobile version of its Windows 10 operating system, according sources close to Microsoft. Instead, the first public release of the Windows 10 mobile SKU -- which sources have said will work on both Windows Phones and smaller Intel- and ARM-based tablets -- won't happen until some time in February 2015.

THE FUTURE HIGH TECH STADIUM HERE COMES TURNING INTO REALITY

The Golden State Warriors will open a new high-tech sports and entertainment complex in 2018, and the basketball team's testing some of the innovations in its current arena now.
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Floor tiles that generate electricity when people walk on them. Streetlamps that transmit data to people passing beneath them. Virtual reality videos that make fans feel like they're at the game when they're really just sitting on their own couches.

No, this isn't "Star Trek." It's some of the technology the Golden State Warriors basketball team is testing for its new stadium, set to open in San Francisco in 2018. The 12-acre sports and entertainment complex will contain space for retail, restaurants and parks and will play host to not only Warriors games but also concerts and other events.

The Warriors, currently the winningest team in the NBA, have been using their nearly 50-year-old venue in Oakland as a sort of Petri dish to try out new technology. Some, like the use of Apple's iBeacon technology have stuck. Others will only be tested in parts of the stadium before being rolled out in the new venue, while some tech may be scrapped after the trials.

"Our goal is that the experience [at the new San Francisco complex], regardless of whether it's a Warriors game or a conference or an artist or any sort of entertainment, that the experience there is second to none," said Kenny Lauer, vice president of digital and marketing for the Warriors. "We can't light this [new arena] up already being out of date."

The Golden State Warriors' new arena, shown in an artist rendering, will seat 18,000 fans when it opens in San Francisco in 2018.
Golden State Warriors
The move by the Warriors to build the most high-tech stadium possible follows similar steps by other sports franchises. As more and more fans opt to watch the game from home, sports teams are looking for ways to entice them into arenas and keep them engaged. High-tech features, such as paying for seat upgrades from a smartphone, gives the franchises a new revenue stream while keeping their fans happy.

With most of the technology the Warriors are exploring, there are still questions about how to best implement the features and how they actually work. And the rapid pace of change in the technology industry makes it tough for companies and organizations to plan several months out, let alone several years.

The Warriors aren't alone in the hopping on the tech bandwagon. Levi's Stadium, the home of the San Francisco 49ers football team in Santa Clara, Calif., was dubbed by some "the stadium Silicon Valley built" when it opened in 2014, partly because of its location in the heart of the tech world, as well as its high-tech features. Many Major League Baseball stadiums -- including AT&T Park, the home of the 2014 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, and Citi Field, home to the New York Mets -- are outfitted with iBeacons to ping visitors with exclusive offers and trivia. AT&T outfitted its namesake stadium in Dallas, the home of the Cowboys football team, with large, interactive LED displays to keep fans involved in the game.

how to dual boot win 10 technical preview with win 7 or win 8 ?

windows is going to be launched on 21 jan 2015 be ready for the great event

The next chapter in Microsoft's corporate history may be called Windows 10, but the name of the book should be "Once More, With Feeling."

On January 21, the company will host a Win 10 event at its Redmond, Wash., headquarters that's expected to focus on the consumer side of the operating system -- for the normal everyday people checking Facebook and printing family photos. Microsoft will describe for the first time what Windows 10 will be like when it's running on devices like phones and tablets.or Microsoft, the event is critical. It's first and foremost an opportunity for the company to follow through on its promise to make good with consumers, many of whom were turned off by the company's last version of Windows, called Windows 8. Microsoft marketed that software as its answer to tablets, offering a way to run desktop-class apps on a mobile device.

Microsoft not only turned off consumers with Windows 8, but it also drove them away. The 2-year-old software powers less than 10 percent of all computers in the world, according to NetMarketshare. That's well below its 5-year-old predecessor Windows 7, which powers more than half the market, and it's even below Windows XP, now 14 years old, which commands nearly 20 percent.

The company's Surface tablet hasn't fared much better. Since the device's 2012 debut, Microsoft has heavily marketed it as a do-everything gadget, replacing laptops and tablets. The company has never disclosed how many Surface devices it's sold, but Surface revenue from last quarter was $908 million, paltry compared with iPad sales in the billions of dollars.a

google may buy softcard

Google may be stocking its war chest to compete with Apple in mobile payments.

The Internet giant is reportedly in talks to acquire Softcard, a company that helps people to pay for things using their mobile devices, according to reports by TechCrunch and The Wall Street Journal. The deal for the payments company -- a joint venture between carriers AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile -- is said to be for less than $100 million.

Both Google and Softcard declined to comment on the possible sale. "We don't have a comment, background, deep background, off-the-record steer, nod, wink or any other verbal or nonverbal response to these sorts of rumors," a Google spokesperson said.

The buyout would mean a more aggressive push from Google to compete in mobile payments. The technology has been a favorite of Silicon Valley companies hoping to expand beyond their roots selling devices or services and into the lucrative financial industry.

PayPal, one of the most successful payments companies, was sold to eBay in 2002 for $1.5 billion. Since then, companies large and small, ranging from Amazon to Facebook to the startup Square have all tried to become a go-to service for payments, particularly on the Web.

Even Apple fielded its effort, called Apple Pay, in October. Less than 72 hours after its debut, 1 million credit cards had been used on the service.
