SAMSUNG E7 AND E5 READY TO GET LOLLIPOP UPDATE

Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 are budget flavors of the A-series, losing the metal frames to plastic. Both phones come with Super AMOLED 720p displays and run on the Snapdragon 410 chipset. The E5 is the smaller 5" model with 8MP camera, while the E7 is bigger at 5.5" and packs a 13MP rear snapper.
Both Galaxy E5 and E7 were launched last February running Android KitKat, but they are now entering Samsung's official Lollipop queue and their updates are scheduled for completion during Q3 (July-September) this year.

Samsung is going to bring world's thinnest tablet

According to recent rumors, Samsung is about to announce two new high-end Android tablets that will succeed last year's Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5. The new slates will probably be called Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7.

We already saw a few renders that allegedly showed the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 (model number SM-T815), and now it's time to take a look at the Tab S2 8.0 (model number SM-T715).

Approved today by China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (also known as TENAA), the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 sports an 8-inch AMOLED display with 1536 x 2048 pixels and a 4:3 aspect ratio, weighs 260 grams, and measures 198.2 x 134.5 x 5.4 mm. At just 5.4 mm, the Tab S2 8.0 should become the world's thinnest tablet, but we'll just have to wait for Samsung to officially announce the device before giving it this title.

The S2 8.0 runs Android Lollipop, and is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.9 GHz (most likely, this is an Exynos 7420). Other features include LTE, 3 GB of RAM, a 2 MP front-facing camera, 8 MP rear camera, and expandable internal memory (starting at 16 GB).

You can take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 in the slideshow below. In case you don't think the tablet is too attractive, we can tell you from our experience that virtually all devices photographed by TENAA look worse than in reality.

SKYPE USERS BE ALERTED

Just a few days ago, information surfaced about a strange string that can crash the iOS Messages app. The bug became pretty viral, caused a lot of controversy and apparently sparked an interest in such exploits. So much so, that a similar hack has now been found for Skype. The Microsoft-owned messenger also appears to be susceptible to malicious messages and it turns out that it requires a lot less effort than the complicated spell-like message that plagued Apple’s messenger. If you send any message containing the string “http://:” to a Skype contact their client will most-likely crash and keep on crashing after a restart.
This loop of death, reportedly, occurs on the Windows Desktop client for Skype, as well as the mobile versions for Android and iOS, although there have been some reports that certain version of Android are still safe. The bug doesn’t seem to affect Mac users or the special touch-optimized, Skype app for Windows 8 and 8.1.
The string itself looks alarmingly simple and, frankly, it is rather odd that somebody hasn’t stumbled upon it sooner. Presumably, the misspelled protocol reference messes with the link-handling functions in Skype and causes it to crash. What makes the bug particularly dreadful is that it persists after restarting the app and even after reinstalling it or deleting its history, as Skype instantly downloads it again. The only workaround for the time being seems to be to ask the sender to delete the message, so, it is no longer in history and then reinstalling Skype.

pirate bayFredrik Neij, one of The Pirate Bay’s co-founders, was a key operator of the torrent site during its early years.

In 2012 Fredrik received a 10-month prison sentence for his involvement with the notorious site, which he initially avoided.

WINDOWS 10 HARDWARE MICROSOFT GIVES A NEW LOOK TO WINDOWS

icrosoft, in the midst of showing off Windows 10 at the Computex trade show in Taiwan this week, has revealed a new range of new PCs, laptops, and tablets designed to work with its newest operating system. In addition to the Asus Transformer Book T100HA shown off earlier this week, also detailed on stage was a new version of Dell's 15-inch XPS laptop on the way that borrows the "virtually borderless" InfinityEdge display from its 13-inch sibling, and a new HP tablet with "revolutionary note-taking capabilities."

Nick Parker, VP of Microsoft's Original Equipment Manufacturer Division, also lifted the lid on another HP product — a 2-in-1 device with a magnetic hinge that makes it flexible, and  — like the tablet — the 2-in-1 device has pen functionality that allows users to annotate directly in Edge, Microsoft's replacement for Internet Explorer. Toshiba also debuted its own Windows 10 2-in-1: the Toshiba Astrea features a 4K resolution screen and a camera capable of face authentication via Windows Hello.

DELL NEW RANGE OF LAPTOPS RUNNING WINDOWS 10

While Dell managed to surprise us with its rather handsome XPS 15 -- the sibling of the thin-bezel XPS 13 laptop -- at Computex, it's also bringing us a range of both new and refreshed models ahead of the Windows 10 launch. Starting off with the headliner, we have the Inspiron 15 7000 series laptop (pictured above) that runs on Intel's quad-core Core i7H chip, and it's garnished with Waves MaxxAudio enhancement plus a "performance class" NVIDIA graphics processor with 4GB of GDDR5 memory, so you'll get some good gaming action on it. Most importantly, the machine's 15-inch FHD display has an optional 4K touchscreen upgrade that looks stunning, though it isn't clear as to how long that 74WHr battery can last for. The price? All we know so far is that it'll start from 5,999 yuan or about $970 when it launches in China on August 7th.

For those seeking more versatility, there's the new Inspiron 15 7000 Series 2-in-1, which is pitched as an affordable hybrid laptop. It features a massive 15.6-inch IPS touchscreen, as well as up to almost nine hours of battery life, spill-resistant backlit keyboard, brushed aluminum body and MaxxAudio software. This beast will land in the US on June 23rd with a starting price of $550.
